Description	:	Edgar William Fowles, Sr., son of Alvin and Alice (Dunn) Fowles, was born on February 2, 1885, on a farm near Holstein, Iowa. He was married to Pearl Stone on August 17, 1908, after which they lived on a farm until ill health forced him to give up farming and the family moved to Ida Grove in 1926. Read More	Edgar William Fowles, Sr., son of Alvin and Alice (Dunn) Fowles, was born on February 2, 1885, on a farm near Holstein, Iowa. He was married to Pearl Stone on August 17, 1908, after which they lived on a farm until ill health forced him to give up farming and the family moved to Ida Grove in 1926. He began a business of his own, doing yard and garden work and other odd jobs, at which he was employed when he was stricken with a severe stroke in 1957, which paralyzed his right side and left him quite helpless. Ed, as he was usually called, was a very patient sufferer. His good humor, though he was bedfast, amazed all who knew him. On Tuesday, October 24, he entered the Horn Memorial Hospital and the Lord called him home on Sunday, October 29, 1967, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 27 days. Ed received Christ as his Savior in February, 1945, and was later baptized by Rev. C.H. Lacquement, former pastor of the Winebrenner Church of God. He enjoyed the good gospel radio programs whenever he was able to listen. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a brother. The survivors include his wife, Pearl, two daughters, Alice Welding and Opal Fowles, both of Ida Grove, two grandchildren, Richard Welding, Fremont, Nebraska, and LaVern Sharkey of Arthur, one brother Robert of California, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Christensen Funeral home with Rev. James McKenzie of the Winebrenner Church of God officiating. Interment was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Johnson, Charles Christie, Norman Wehner, Arthur Welding, Marvin Rath and Tom Odgaard.
