He was 80. Mr. Stanton was born in Ames, Iowa. Shortly after his graduation from Iowa State College, Ames, where he received his degree in engineering, he came to California. He just returned from his 60th year class reunion held at Ames. A resident of the Gridley-Live Oak area since 1907, he had been engaged in diversified farming near Live Oak since 1911. He was a past master and 50-year member of North Butte Lodge 230, F&AM; past patron and 50-year member of Vernon Chapter 35, Order of Eastern Star; and held membership in the Ben Ali Shrine and the Oroville Knights Templar, Franklin Chapter. Mr. Stanton was also a member of the board of directors of the Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital, named to this position on March 19, 1956. Surviving are his wife, Nelle of Gridley; a son, Edgar Stanton III of Live Oak; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Spitzmiller of Colorado. Masonic services were held at the Gridley Masonic Temple. Graveside services, with Rev. David Tritenbach of the Gridley First Presbyterian Church officiating, were held at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
