Read More	Obituary "Mrs. Edith A. Taylor" Mrs. Edith A. Taylor passed away Tuesday, March 13, 1923 at 8:25 a.m., at the home of her son, Albert O. Nutting, in the north part of the city. Although she had been more or less of an invalid for the past year, due to old age, she enjoyed seeing and visiting her friends, and was also able to attend the Christmas family gathering at her grandaughters. Edith Hastings, daughter of Thaddeus and Adeline Hastings, was born at Malone, Franklin County, New York, September 20, 1836 and had reached the age of 86 years, 5 months, 21 days. At the age of 13 she came with her family and settled near Waukegan, Illinois. In 1851 at the age of 15, she was married to Orland Nutting. They came to Horton, Bremer County, in 1856, where they bought and lived on a farm until the death of Mr. Nutting in 1867. To them were born two sons, one of whom, Frank, died in infancy. After the death of her husband she and her son moved to the Hotel at Horton and this became known as the half-way house for travelers between Charles City and Cedar Falls, the nearest railroads at that time. Later she married George R. Taylor and came to Waverly where they bought a large tract of land in the north part of town, and for nearly fifty years this has been her home. She is survived by one son, Albert O. Nutting, one grandaughter, Mrs. D. A. Mether, two great grandchildren, Fred R. Mether of Sunny Vale, California, and Cora Mether of this city, serveral nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Two grandaughters preceded in death, Mrs. Cora Austin, March 9, 1909 and Mrs. Effie Baskins, February 4, 1915. "Aunt Ede", as she was more familiarly known, was a kind and indulgent mother, a good friend and neighbor, ever ready and willing to help in time of sorrow or trouble. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John D. Clinton at the Nutting home March 16, at 2 o'clock and interment in Harlington cemetery.
