RIEKEN 1907 – 1998 Funeral services for Edith A. Rieken were held 10:30 Monday morning, August 10, 1998 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Eugene Schipper officiated at the services. Interment was at Wayne Zion Cemetery Edith A. Rieken, age 91, of Anamosa, died Friday morning, August 7 at the Anamosa Community Hospital following a brief illness. Edith A Rieken was born April 8, 1907 at Harrisburg, IL. She was the daughter of Henry and Lillian Otterson Sunday. She graduated from Morley High School and attended and graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Edith taught school in the Morley area for several years and also worked at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. On September 13, 1947 she was united in marriage with George Rieken at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Edith and George made their home in the Anamosa area. For the past five years she was a resident of care centers with the Anamosa Care Center being the most recent, where she was deeply appreciative of the care she received from the staff at the Anamosa Care Center. The morning of her death, she died with her family present. She is survived by one brother, Kenny Sunday of Madison, Wi; one sister-in-law, Addie Sunday of Glenburnie, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George on June 5, 1989, one sister, Vernita Heskett, two brothers, Howard Sunday and Bill Sunday and a special niece. Evelyn Harms.
