(Abe) Martin's obituary, their parents were Alfred P. and Nellie (Minard) Martin. Alfred P. Martin married Nellie Minnard on June 27, 1895, in Wapello County, Iowa. An obituary was published for Nellie Anna Martin Doss in the "Creston News Advertiser," August 14, 1967, and Nellie's obituary also stated that she married Alfred Martin in 1895, and he died in 1909. --------------- Thomas and Edith are shown in the 1920 Census for Pleasant, Monroe County, Iowa, with their son Clifford, age 1 year, 4 months. Findgrave member Alice has provided the information that after Edith's death, her son Clifford Marvin was adopted by her husband Thomas's sister Pheobe and her husband Ray Alexander Walker. Clifford Marvin Walker and Ray and Pheobe Walker are in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Monroe County, Iowa. Edith's obituary, which I have transcribed below, states incorrectly that she died Thursday evening. According to Edith's death certificate, which may be seen in familysearch.org, she died May 18, 1920, which was on a Tuesday, and her obituary was published Wednesday, May 19, 1920. --------------- Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier," Wednesday, May 19, 1920: Mrs. Edith Harnden, wife of Thomas Harnden, died Thursday [sic] morning at 9 o'clock at her home, 220 Santa Fe avenue, at the age of 21 years. She is survived by her husband and one child, Clifford, also by her mother, Mrs. Noah Green of Thayer, Ia., two sisters, Sarah and Cecil Martin of Thayer, and three brothers, Walter Martin of Fremont, and John and Albert of Thayer. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Sullivan and Jay undertaking parlors, conducted by Captain James Cheyne of the Salvation Army. Interment will be made in Shaul cemetery.
