The following is from the "Society Circle" column of the "Ottumwa Courier" of January 18, 1904: The marriage of H.G. Dimmitt of Milwaukee, Wis., and Miss Edith B. Stevens of Ottumwa took place at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. J.C. Stevens, Wednesday evening, June 15, at 8:30 o'clock. Rev. C.S. Cooper, pastor of the M.E. Church at Albia, officiated. After the ceremony the guests joined in congratulating the happy couple and afterwards a three course wedding supper was served. About ninety guests were present, among whom were the following from out of town: Miss Stella Savage, Brighton, Mrs. Ellen Hawley, Sioux City, Leo W. Fausher, Oskaloosa, V.R. Holt, Milwaukee, Wis., Roy Norman, Geo. P. Kempf, Harry McIntosh, Dubuque, Ralph P. Wilson, Grinnell. The home of Mrs. Stevens was very prettily decorated in green and white, the bridal arch being a work of artistic simplicity. The wedding march was rendered by Mrs. R.S. Kelsey. The bride was attired in a beautiful dress of Persian lawn. The couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents. Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt are both well known in Wapello County, having lived here all their lives except during the last year, Mr. Dimmitt has been in Milwaukee. Mr. Dimmitt is a promising young man, highly esteemed by all his friends. He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering course in the Iowa State college at Ames in June 1903, with the degree of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineer. He is employed in the motive power department of the C.M. & St. P. Railway at Milwaukee. Mrs. Dimmitt is a young woman well known and a favorite with her many friends. A reception was given to Mr. and Mrs. Dimmitt at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. And Mrs. R.C. Dimmitt, Thursday evening and a very enjoyable evening was spent by a large number of friends.
