Description	:	Edith Elaine Smith Adams, 78 years old of Dunkerton, IA, died Friday, January 25, 2008, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA, following a lengthy illness. She was born February 3, 1929, at Gladbrook, IA, the daughter of Thomas Nye and Lela Nichol Nye. Following graduation from Dunkerton High School with the class of 1947, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA for one year. Following graduation from Dunkerton High School with the class of 1947, she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA for one year. On February 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to Leland Calvin Smith in Dunkerton, IA. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1975. On May 12, 1979, she married Morris O. Adams in Dunkerton. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2007. Edith was a homemaker and also worked over 30 years for the Dunkerton Telephone Cooperative in various capacities. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkerton and a member of Secret Pals. Mrs. Adams is survived by 3 daughters, Rebecca (Alen) Nagel, of Waterloo, IA, Lora (Wayne) Mager of Elkader, IA, Lela (Scott) Pettit of Dunkerton, IA, 3 sons, Douglas (Candy) Smith of Broomfield, CO, Calvin (Denise) Smith of Dunkerton, IA, Larry (Christine) Smith of Anchorage, AK, 2 step-daughters, Sheryl Wallace of Waterloo, IA, Charlene (Richard) Kern of Springfield, MO, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandsons and 1 step great granddaughter. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Helen Lucille Grinnell and Annetta Moeller. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. – Monday, January 28, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, IA, with Pastor Tommy Rucker officiating. Music was by Kay Rucker and Kent Sommerlot. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton, IA. Honorary Casket Bearers were Jeremie Nagel, Scott Joens, Daniel Smith, Micah Smith, Kevin Kern, Scott Kern and Stuart Smith. Casket Bearers were Aaron Mager, Kyle Smith, Jonah Smith, Jason Nagel, Keith Joens, and Alec Smith. Memorials may be directed to the family.
