Description	:	Died Wednesday morning, April 4, Edith, the little four year old daughter of Wm and Ella Best, at their home near Livingston. On Monday evening while little Edith was playing out in the yard near some live embers of fire, where Mr. Best had been raking up and burning the trash off of the yard, accidentally caught her clothing on fire. She had asked her mamma to let her go and play and had been gone but a few minutes, when they heard her screaming. Read More	Died Wednesday morning, April 4, Edith, the little four year old daughter of Wm and Ella Best, at their home near Livingston. On Monday evening while little Edith was playing out in the yard near some live embers of fire, where Mr. Best had been raking up and burning the trash off of the yard, accidentally caught her clothing on fire. She had asked her mamma to let her go and play and had been gone but a few minutes, when they heard her screaming. They rushed to her assistance but could only extinguish the flames that were fast encircling her. Drs. Wyckoff and Stevenson were immediately summoned and every means used possible for her temporary relief. Edith was a very affectionate child and bore her sufferings patiently being conscious till Tuesday night and Wednesday morning death released her. The remains were taken to Pleasant hill cemetery for interement, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Handy, of the M. E. church of Mystic. Mr. and Mrs. Best have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. Oh we miss our little Edith, From her accustomed place; We do not hear her footsteps, Nor see her smiling face. Her little chair is vacant; Her voice we no more hear; The Saviour knew her sufferings For he is always near.
