EDITH GWYNDOLYN FEUSNER Apr. 28, 1928 - Nov. 14, 2010 - SALEM, OR - Edith Gwyndolyn Feusner, age 82, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 14. She was loved by her family and friends who enjoyed her love of humor, her generosity and her warm friendship. EDITH GWYNDOLYN FEUSNER Apr. 28, 1928 - Nov. 14, 2010 - SALEM, OR - Edith Gwyndolyn Feusner, age 82, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 14. She was loved by her family and friends who enjoyed her love of humor, her generosity and her warm friendship. Edith Wilkins was born at the home of her parents, Albert and Elsie-Smith Wilkins, on April 28, 1928, near Liberty, Iowa, the 9th of 12 children. She was a twin to Edna, who preceded her in death in 2008. Edith and sister Bernice finished high school, and at 18, Edith became a teacher in the one-room school house near her home.
She married Bruce E. Feusner in October of 1950. Three children were born to this union: Kathryn, Linda and Melvin. The couple eventually purchased a farm near Weldon, Iowa, and operated it until Bruce's health forced them to sell and move to Salem, Oregon, where Bruce's parents lived. Bruce died of emphysema in 1966. Edith worked at Fairview Home for a short time, and then at Moore Business Forms for over 30 years, retiring from Moore's in the mid-1990s.
Edith was member of Keizer Community Church for many years, and involved in the Salvation Army Women's Home League for the last three years. She loved her family, gardening, telling jokes and helping people in any way she could. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family in Oregon and Iowa. Edith is survived by family in Oregon: daughter, Kathryn Pickett; son-in-law, Ken Pickett; daughter, Linda Feusner; grandchildren, Mick Widmer, Debi Widmer, and Nancy Widmer; and great-grandchildren, Sunshine Widmer and Jackson Schnebelen of Salem; grandson, Matthew Widmer of Los Angeles; and her family in Iowa: granddaughter, Renee Rausch; and great-grandchildren, Tristan and Katie; sisters, Bea Gillaspy and Vera Cook; brother, Dwight Wilkins; and many generations of nieces and nephews. Edith is preceded in death by husband, Bruce Feusner; son, Melvin Feusner; brothers, Chet, Arthur, Clarence, Vernard, and Raymond Wilkins; and sisters, Dortha Shelton, Bernice Denley, and Edna Mitchell.
A celebration of Edith's life will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 23 at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 1865 Bill Frey Dr. NE, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army in care of the Women's Home League. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
