She was born October 5, 1917 in Pulaski County to the late William “Bill” and Minnie (Doll) Garling. Her first marriage was to Everett Kruger on March 10, 1936, he passed away in 1949. She later married Rhea Tucker on April 14, 1951 in Francesville; he preceded her in death on November 15, 1984. She was born October 5, 1917 in Pulaski County to the late William “Bill” and Minnie (Doll) Garling. Her first marriage was to Everett Kruger on March 10, 1936, he passed away in 1949. She later married Rhea Tucker on April 14, 1951 in Francesville; he preceded her in death on November 15, 1984. Edith was a lifelong member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ of Francesville and charter member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors, gardening, quilting, and most of all, spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Chafey of Indianapolis, Gerald (Carolyn) Kruger of Francesville and a sister, Hannah (Don) Dommer of Winamac. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Bill Chafey, Curt Chafey, Darryl Chafey, Jerry L. Kruger, and Jana Drone; 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death with her parents and both husbands is a brother, Robert Garling, her son-in-law, Bill Chafey and a great-great-grandson Noah Chafey. St. James Salem Church Cemetery.
