Rhodes Conway, age 88, of Willis Ave., Jefferson, Ohio, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center, where she has resided the past four and a half years. She was born June 19, 1925, in Huntsburg, Ohio, the daughter of Kasper and Augusta (Kresin) Hofstetter and has lived in Jefferson since 1951, coming from Middlefield. She was married to Hubert S. Rhodes on June 30, 1946, in Chardon, Ohio. Mrs. Conway attended Ohio State University, graduated from Kent State University and taught in the Jefferson Area Local School System for 25 years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Conway was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, the Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Association, and the Ohio and National Education Retired Teachers Associations. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Conway, whom she married on Sept. 28, 1996, at the Jefferson United Methodist Church; a son, Gerald L. (Tiny) Rhodes of Columbus; three grandchildren, Jonathan Holfinger, Cara Leigh Holfinger and Phillip Rhodes; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol D. Holfinger in 1992; her first husband, Hubert in 1978; her second husband, Calvin Walker in 1994; six sisters, Lena Harrington, Bertha Halstead, Frieda Barnes, Emma Carmany, Augusta Daly and Edna Savoy; and four brothers, Kasper, Carl, Henry and Edwin Hofstetter. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4th, at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Daniel Bilkert officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
