Description	:	Edith was born on March 25, 1905 at Schaller to Thomas and Catherine (Drey) Kelley. She was raised and educated at Early where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1922. She received a teaching certificate and taught in country schools in the Early area. She later renewed her teaching certificate at Buena Vista University and taught several years in the Sacred Heart School system. On May 22, 1930 she was married to Frank Lester Struchen at Sacred Heart Church in Early. They farmed in the Early community all of their married life, moving into Early in 1972. She had worked at Sippel Sundries, the Early State Bank and Sacred Heart School in Early. She moved into the McCord Apartments in Storm Lake in May of 1990 and later to the Methodist Manor in 1994. She had been a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Sacred Heart Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary and coordinator of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Church. She was an active member of the Sac Co. Democrats and was invited to attend the inauguration of Jimmy Carter as president of the U.S. and also was given an invitation to a special reception at the White House. On March 4,1998 Edith passed away at the Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester in 1970, two sisters, Rosalie and Sister Pauline, and two brothers, Edmund and an infant brother. Survivors include a daughter Rosemary and Roger Clausen of Okoboji; two sons, Frank and Donna of Early and Ed and Bonnie of Roseburg, OR.; nine grandchildren: Douglas Clausen, Elizabeth Clausen Hansch, Margaret, Thomas and Theresa Struchen, Ann Nading, Charles, Michael and Caroline Struchen; 12 great grandchildren: Ryan, Trisha, Lindsey and Aaron Clausen, Alex and Eric Hansch, Darci and Jacob Nading, Ashley, Austin, Jesseca and Heather Struchen; and other relatives.
