She was the wife of the late Harry Spencer. Born in Johnston, a daughter of the late George and Florence (Crothers) Bishop, she settled on Pine Hill Road in 1933, and lived there until moving to Institute Lane 17 years ago. SPENCER, 93, of Institute Lane, a former milliner and postal clerk, died Sunday at Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Harry Spencer. Born in Johnston, a daughter of the late George and Florence (Crothers) Bishop, she settled on Pine Hill Road in 1933, and lived there until moving to Institute Lane 17 years ago. Mrs. Spencer was a milliner for many years at the former Gladdings Department Store, Providence. She also had worked as a mail clerk and substitute mail carrier, for her late husband, at the North Scituate Post Office. She was a member of the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association and its women's auxiliary. The longest continuous member on record at the North Scituate Baptist Church, which she joined in February 1929, Mrs. Spencer was a Sunday school teacher at the church for many years, a president of the former Ladies Aid Society, now the Women's Fellowship, and a member of the Friendly Circle. Sheis survived by a son, a daughter, a brother, three sisters, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was a sister of the late Edna Monroe and Evelyn Colwell.
