After a illness of several months she went to join the great homecoming throng on Tuesday, January 16, 1917. She finished the rural schools and later spent some time at Drake University and took further work at Cedar Falls. Read More	The Altoona Herald, Altoona, Iowa January 25, 1917 Edith Eshelman Edith Mabel Eshelman was born in Polk County, near Altoona on February 13, 1894. After a illness of several months she went to join the great homecoming throng on Tuesday, January 16, 1917. She finished the rural schools and later spent some time at Drake University and took further work at Cedar Falls. At the beginning of her illness she was employed as a teacher in Polk county, where success was always hers. Edith was a girl who possessed unusual abilities which crown the life of the ideal character. She was thoughtful of her friends and her family were second to none. All who knew her appreciated the gentle smile and kindness given them. During her illness her ambition to recover and be among her friends and at work was many times her only thought. Several years ago she accepted Christ and joined the church and remained very faithful to her trust until the Master needed her above. The funeral was conducted from the Methodist church Thursday afternoon, January 18, 1917 at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor Rev. McKay, of Adel. After the funeral the body was tenderly laid to rest on the Altoona cemetery. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer.
