Read More	Edith Mae Smith March 25, 1926 - October 29, 2018 Obituary for Edith Mae Smith Edith Mae Smith, 92, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on October 29, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa. She was born March 25, 1926 in Belknap, Iowa to Ernest Earl and Ruth Ione Haynes Hawkins. She married Paul J. Smith on November 29, 1947 in Ottumwa. The couple lived in Davis and Wapello Counties over the years. Paul passed away on August 10, 2005. Edith worked as an office manager for Meadow Gold Dairy in Ottumwa for many years. After it closed, she worked as a bookkeeper for Coca-Cola in Ottumwa until her retirement. After she retired, she enjoyed playing dominoes, going to casinos, watching football and basketball, and playing cards with family and friends. She had a very good sense of humor and really enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Judy (Garmon) Morse of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Maxine Hawkins of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Max and Donnie Hawkins; and four sisters, Fern Bride, Maxine Pearson, Illa Hughes, and Helen Long. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Alan Paris officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present to greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the procession to the cemetery. A memorial has been established to Good Samaritan Society – Hospice.
