Description	:	Edith Margie Green Davis, age 88, a resident of Sophia, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 Westchester Manor in High Point. She was born August 20, 1923 in Davidson County, NC to the late Fred Green and Louzenia Payne Green. She was a member of Marlboro Friends Meeting, where she was a member of the Friendly Friends Sunday School class and the Golden Girls. Edith had retired from New Market School Cafeteria in 1987 and after retirement continued to work at Midway Grocery for many years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, riding her golf cart and square dancing and spending time... Read More	Edith Margie Green Davis, age 88, a resident of Sophia, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 Westchester Manor in High Point. She was born August 20, 1923 in Davidson County, NC to the late Fred Green and Louzenia Payne Green. She was a member of Marlboro Friends Meeting, where she was a member of the Friendly Friends Sunday School class and the Golden Girls. Edith had retired from New Market School Cafeteria in 1987 and after retirement continued to work at Midway Grocery for many years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, riding her golf cart and square dancing and spending time with her family. She also liked to watch the Atlanta Braves play baseball and the UNC Tarheels play Basketball. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Davis in 1972; they were married on May 1, 1946, and by a granddaughter, Lori Hildreth. Also preceding her in death was 2 brothers, Paul and Don Green, and 2 sisters, Ruth Green Payne and Mildred Green Hayworth. Surviving are her children, Joan Younger and her husband Jerry, and Lowell Davis and his wife Connie, her sisters, Lela Green Hilton and Margaret Green Stewart. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amie Hildreth, Chad Hildreth, Josh Davis, Melissa Truhe, and Paul Younger, her great grandchildren, Chloe Hildreth, Cale Hildreth, Dakota Truhe, and Gage Truhe. A service to celebrate Edith's life will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Marlboro Friends Meeting with Ministers Ricky Sessoms and John Sides officiating. Interment will follow in the Meeting House cemetery. The family will see friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorials in Edith's memory may be made to Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Road, Sophia, NC 27350. The family would like to thank the staff of Westchester Manor and United Hospice for their care and concern shown to Edith during her illness.
