She was born May 2, 1920, in Victor, Colorado to Nels and Hulda (Carlberg) Mostrom. She and her sister Edla grew up on their family farm in the Swedish Marion Hill community. Read More	Edith Marie Keys, 95, formerly of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at Rose Estates in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born May 2, 1920, in Victor, Colorado to Nels and Hulda (Carlberg) Mostrom. She and her sister Edla grew up on their family farm in the Swedish Marion Hill community. She was extremely proud of her Swedish heritage. She married Ellis “Bud” Keys on June 14, 1943 in Tucson, AZ. They made their home on a farm in rural Morris County. Edith taught 33 years in area schools, finishing with the last 19 years of her career at Garfield Elementary in Council Grove. While teaching, Edith also raised their children, Ron and Linda. Edith was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Delta Kappa Gamma, Nautilus Federated Club, American Legion Auxiliary, a founding parent of the Flint Hills 4-H Club, past president of the local NEA. She felt it was extremely important to be actively involved in her community. She enjoyed traveling and cruising, crossword puzzles, researching genealogy, and most of all, visiting with friends. She loved her family and enjoyed all of the special times with them. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ellis, and sister Edla. She is survived by her son, Ronald Keys and wife Valerie, VA and daughter Linda Stetzler and husband Ames, KS; 5 grandchildren: Valerie King (Robert), Allison Shwedo, Jonathan Ellis (Leslie), Amy Dehart (Aaron) and Jennifer Katzenstein (Scott); and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Council Grove. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
