Rev. Mike Carry officiated and burial was in the Wayne Cemetery, McIntire. She died Saturday, September 1, 2001 at Adams Health Care Center, Adams, where she resided for 10 months. She was born June 27, 1905 in Crawfordville to William Harvey VanSyoc and Sarah Emma Woodruff. She was baptized in the Riceville-Methodist Church. She attended Riceville area schools. She was a member of the Jolly Dozen joining in 1929. She was also a member of the McIntire United Methodist Church and ladies aid. Those that preceded her in death were her parents; her husband; one son; three brothers, Sam, John and Orville and one sister, Marie. Edith is survived by her daughters, Maxine (Mrs. Floyd) DeVries of Austin, MN, Bernice (Mrs. Clyde) Walker of Charles City and Mary (Mrs. Roger) Hultman of Austin, MN; sons, Robert and wife Marlys Starry of McIntire, Dennis and wife Theresa Starry of Austin, MN and Donald and wife Beverlee Starry of Austin, MN; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
