Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Edith M. (Cowan) Overman was born on Friday; July 22, 1910 in Cyclone; McDonald County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Marcus and Minnie (Bishop) Cowan. She came to Iowa with her family at the age of six, and at the age of 11 moved to Rhodes; Marshall County, Iowa. She attended Rhodes schools, graduating from Rhodes High School in 1928. On Sunday; June 22, 1930, she was united in marriage to John Benjamin Overman in Madrid; Boone County, Iowa. She was employed as a clerk with Hix Grocery in Rhodes, Iowa for 20 years and was a member of the Rhodes United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Edith M. (Cowan) Overman, age 96, formerly of Rhodes, Iowa passed away on Saturday; November 4, 2006, at Oakview Care Center in Conrad; Grundy County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her sons: John (Darlene) Overman of Rhodes, Iowa. James (Bernie) Overman of Council Bluffs; Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Gene Overman of Papillion; Sarpy County, Nebraska. William (Sandy) Overman of Rhodes, Iowa and Thomas (Nancy) Overman of Midway; Catoosa County, Georgia. Her brother: William Cowan of Westland; Wayne County, Michigan. Her sister: Ruth Grewell of Conrad, Iowa. Her twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1960, a son Charles, one granddaughter, five sisters and two brothers. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday; November 10, 2006 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday; November 11, 2006 at the New Horizons United Methodist Church in Melbourne; Marshall County, Iowa. Interment will be in the Eden Cemetery in Rhodes, Iowa. Memorials in Edith's name may be directed to the family. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website.
