The Sudden Passing of a Noble Woman Death Comes in Sleep to Mrs. Ralph Golden The Lisco community was saddened Sunday morning by the passing of Mrs. Ralph Golden, a woman beloved by all who knew her. Mrs. Golden hed not been enjoying very good health for several months, yet death came without warning and when least expected. Mr. And Mrs. Golden had made a visit to Alliance but two or three days before, and seemingly improved, enjoying her rest much better. About 2 o'clock Sunday morning Mrs. Golden awakened and remarked in her usual cheeful way about the spendid sleep she had enjoyed, and wanted to do something , as was her wont, to comfort her husband who was annoyed with the toothache. Peaceful sleep came again, as it always has, and the soul of a most noble was wafted to its maker. Nature had been kind to one of her favorites, smoothing out the way at the end of the road, the angel of death coming in the quiet hour of the dawn, without pain or warning. It is always sad and heart-breaking to have our loved ones go; to be suddenly taken away from the home, from the world where they were so helpful; but there must be a reward for those who have proven so faithful and true to every trust. Early in life Mrs. Golden had joined the Baptist church at Chadron, and continued throughout her life an ardent worker in the Ladies Aid society, in the church choir, and in all other matters intended for the enjoyment or betterment of the community. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. W. H. Scofield, assisted by Rev. E. E. Dagley, conducting the services. It was the largest funeral ever held in Lisco, friends and old neighbors coming long distances from the sandhills to pay their last respects and to lay their wreaths of lovely flowers upon the casket. All nature seemed stilled and saddened; the elements at peace; the day, the music, the large number of people, many standing bowed in the churchyard during the services, the profusion of beautiful flowers, the singing, the reading from the scriptures, the sermon and the comforting words of the minister, all expressed the love and affection and the high esteem in which the departed was held by the community and friends. The beautiful exercies of the Rayal Neighbors at the home, the church and cemetery, all revealed appreciation of the worthy member who was so helpful and kind in every way. A large number of the order from Lewellen, Broadwater and Oshkosh were present. The pall bearers were members of the Mordern Woomden lodge. The sympathy of everyone goes out to the bereaved parents, aged with years of loving; the sisters and brothers; the two children, of an age to keenly feel the loss of a mother; to the husband who must carry the great loss - whose lonely hour and deep sorrow is yet to come; whose loving wife has gone from him forever. The encouraging and cheerful voice of the good old pal has been stilled, for the affection of Ralph and Edith Golden for each other was deeper and more congenial than usually found among even happily married people. The were mated by love and nature. The parents, whose heart strings seem to be breaking, have the great satisfaction of knowing that they brought into the world a useful member of society; a dutiful daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, neighbor. Edith Robbins Golden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Robbins, of Chadron, Nebraska, was born in Hardin county, Iowa, March 3, 1888, and died in Lisco, Nebraska, July 11, 1926, aged 38 years, 4 months, 8 days. She moved with her parents from Iowa to Dawse county, Nebraska, at the age of 7 months, where she made her home until July 26, 1910, when she was unted in marriage with Ralph Golden, to which union three children were born, one dying in infancy. After her marriage she moved to Lisco, Nebraska, where she has since resided. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband; one daughter, Monica Genevieve; one son, Gordon Gerald; her aged parents, fours sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Nellie Card and Mrs. Fred Whetstone, of Chadron Nebraska; Mrs. Ora Eartlett, of Stoneville, Soth Dakota; Mrs. Wm. Lange, of Whitney, Nebraska; Albert Robbins of Aladdin, Wyoming; Oliver Robbins, of Glendive, Montana; and Lloyd Robbins of Chadron, Nebraska. One brother Alvin Robbins, having preceded her in death sixteen years agao.
