Description	:	Edith (Weidner) Crabb, 88, of Wesley Acres in Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, was called to her heavenly home Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Edith was born April 23, 1915, to Reinhold and Christina Weidner of Colome, S.D. After completing school, she moved with her sister, Martha, to Lake Andes, S.D., where they both worked in a restaurant. They lived in a boarding house owned by Howard Crabb, and it was he who introduced her to his brother, her future husband, Lowell. They were married in 1935 and spent the next 23 years as entrepreneurial business partners, operating several businesses in Wagner, S.D. In 1958, the couple moved the family to Sioux City, where they founded Airways Service, a fixed-base operation. They operated a franchise for National Car Rental at the Sioux City air terminal. They assisted in the rebuilding of the new Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and participated in many other church activities. She spent her summers at the cottage in Okoboji, where there was always a full house. In 1978, she retired with Lowell, to Sun Lakes, Ariz. She was active in a bible study group, card club and a golf league, where she developed many close friendships. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and entertaining. The couple spent their winters in Arizona, but continued to spend summers in Okoboji, were she could be close to her family, her greatest joy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lowell Crabb; her children, Larry (Marcia) Crabb of Sioux City and Beverly (Don) Walsmith of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Steve (Melanie) Crabb, Jason (Stephanie) Walsmith and Benjamin (Kori) Walsmith, all of Des Moines; a great-grandson, Mitchell, son of Jason and Stephanie, of Des Moines; a sister, Marie Hoffman of Provo, Utah; and a brother, Milton Weidner of Winner, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha Hinkhouse; and brothers, Gus, Harold, Bob and Leon Weidner. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Alzheimer's Association.
