Description	:	Edith W. Deering Dexter – Edith W. Deering, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, at a Dexter Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Hartland, Aug. 24, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Florence Corson Whitten. She had lived in Dexter for the past seven years, previously living in Hartland. She was employed for several years with the Snowflake Canning Co. in Hartland, and later with Medwed Shoe Co. in Skowhegan for many years. Deering, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, at a Dexter Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Hartland, Aug. 24, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Florence Corson Whitten. She had lived in Dexter for the past seven years, previously living in Hartland. She was employed for several years with the Snowflake Canning Co. in Hartland, and later with Medwed Shoe Co. in Skowhegan for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hartland. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Deering, who died in January 1982, and by her son, Donald Deering, who died in June 1976. She is survived by one son, Maynard, of Hartland, two daughters, Phyllis Sinclair of Ripley and Gladys Gilbert of Dexter, 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel in Hartland, where friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at the William Black Medical Research Building, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, 640 West 168th St., New York, NY 10032, or at the funeral chapel.
