Description	:	Although Edmund's daughter Mary Jane Little (Mrs. Absalom Littly) was buried at Edenton, my research indicates that this memorial is misplaced - Jacob (and his wife Hannah) are not listed in the very well-researched list of names of burials at Edenton. Here are listings of all Edenton memorials: This list does not include Edmund, who was more likely buried at his parents' family graveyard, sold by the township in the 20th century. There seems to be controversy about the ancestry of Edmund Collins. Everyone agrees that his parents were Benjamin and Salley (Sarah) Collins. His father was Benjamin Collins of New Hampshire (there were many Benjamin Collinses.). Edmund's mother was Salley Cilley Collins (not Wright), daughter of Benjamin Cilley/Silley. One of the Benjamin Collinses travelled to Virginia and married a woman named Sarah Wright. This was several years after Edmund's father and mother began creating a family in New Hampshire. There is no record of their marriage, but a land record signed by Salley and her husband Ben Collins in New Hampshire demonstrates that she was a sibling to the many Cilleys who lived near this group of Collinses. They were signing off on their father's land at the time of his death, around 1812-1813. Salley's mother, Betsy (Elizabeth), was Elizabeth Edmunds who married Benjamin Silley/Cilley 9 March 1771 in Salisbury, Mass. Edmund Collins, buried here, was named for his grandmother's maiden name. In some official records, he calls himself Edmunds. All of this is chronicled in a soon-to-be released book by Mr. Charles Martin who researched this family and others for many decades. Edmund married first Hannah Collins, daughter of Jacob Collins of West Va who was not related to the New Hampshire Collins group. Jacob's line is chronicled by Marilyn Pederson.
