She was born the daughter of the late John & Helena (Nelson) Mork, Nov 12,1904, in Dover Township, Fayette County. She was baptized & Confirmed at First Lutheran church, rural Ossian, where she was a lifetime member. On Feb 24,1926 she married to Lester Torkelson. They farmed near West union & later near Forest City. About 1929 they moved back to make their home in Ossian. Lester died on April 19,1940. After Lester's death Edna continued to make her home in Ossian. For over 30 years she worked as a telephone exchange operator for Pleasant Ridge Wordiness Telephone Co, retiring when Scenic Ridge Telephone Co converted to dial service. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1940, hr parents, John & Helena and three sisters Laura Olson, Hazel Rea & Mildred Schatz. Survivors include a son, Leslie Torkelson, Council Bluffs, a daughter Verna (Mrs Howard Wangsness), Rural Decorah, 5 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Russell & Howard Mork and one sister, Arlene Kloster.
