Edna Betsch was born November 11, 1930 to Rudolph and Carolina (Kaul) Betsch. She grew up and attended school in Gackle, ND, graduating from Gackle High School. Following high school she graduated from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught for five years in a rural one room school, where she was responsible for all eight grades, chopped wood and carried in coal to heat the school. Edna Betsch was born November 11, 1930 to Rudolph and Carolina (Kaul) Betsch. She grew up and attended school in Gackle, ND, graduating from Gackle High School. Following high school she graduated from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught for five years in a rural one room school, where she was responsible for all eight grades, chopped wood and carried in coal to heat the school. In April of 1951, she met Peter Gross and they were married on November 25, 1954 at Jamestown, ND. They lived in Jamestown, Valley City, ND and Moorhead, MN before moving to West Fargo in 1969. Throughout her life, she operated a daycare from her home and was a charter member for the Association For Better Daycare. She was awarded Daycare Provider of the Year for Cass County in 1997 from over 500 providers, which she was very proud of. Caring for children and helping the working people was her biggest goal. She was also a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Peter, West Fargo, ND; daughters, Catherine Gross, Fargo, ND, Cynthia (Mick) Langevin, Apple Valley, MN and Caroline (Darin) Ramey, Ada, MN; four grandchildren whom she loved very much, Cristin and Michael Langevin and Kayla and Kara Ramey and two sisters, Anna Lippert, Ashley, ND and Esther Denning, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Arthur, Ted, Robert and Reuben and one sister, Viola Stark. Funeral Mass: Friday, August 29, 2008 at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo, ND with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 in the church.
