Burger, 93 years of age, of Wilber, NE. passed away at the Wilber Care Center Sunday evening, May 4, 2003. She was born on February 7, 1910 near DeWitt, NE. and lived in the DeWitt, NE. area her entire life. She attended School District #149 near DeWitt, NE. She and Gerhardt G. Burger were married on April 12, 1934 at the former Trinity Lutheran Church, R. Wilber, NE. They lived on a farm northeast of DeWitt, NE. She moved into DeWitt, NE. in 1964. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, R. Clatonia, NE. and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She was a past member of the Merry Mixers Extension Club in DeWitt, NE., the Garden Club in DeWitt, quilted at the Friendship Club for over 20 years, and had been a member and had served at the DeWitt Senior Diners. She was a talented seamstress (for others), and enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening and her flowers, and doing yard work. Survivors include her daughter Beverly Banks of DeWitt, NE.; daughter in law Marjorie Burger of Lincoln, NE.; 2 grandsons Kent Burger and Todd Burger, both of Lincoln, NE.; 3 sisters, Helen Schuerman of Wilber, NE., Norma Batie of Folsom, CA. and Irene Peterson and her husband Keith of Addison, Texas; sister in law Genevieve Ulrich of DeWitt, NE.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Kate (Spilker) Ulrich, husband Gerhardt G. Burger (1960), daughter Debra Sue Burger (1972), son Lowell Burger (1976), infant daughter Judy Burger, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, R. Clatonia, NE. with Reverend Steven Kahrs officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery, R. Clatonia, NE. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 10-9:00 at the Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in DeWitt, NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be at 9:45 A.M. at the church. A memorial has been established to the church, church missions, and the Lutheran School in Waco, NE. with the church elders in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. Venrick-Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in DeWitt, NE. in charge of services.
