Description	:	Edna Emilie Katherine Rolf, 99, of Aliceville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas. Edna was born June 30, 1913, on a farm near Argonia, Kansas, the third of nine children of Herman F. and Bertha (Dill) Stohs, and their first daughter. The family soon moved to the farm one mile west and one-half mile south of Aliceville, and Edna grew up there, attending rural school and helping with the family farm. Read More	Edna Emilie Katherine Rolf, 99, of Aliceville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas. Edna was born June 30, 1913, on a farm near Argonia, Kansas, the third of nine children of Herman F. and Bertha (Dill) Stohs, and their first daughter. The family soon moved to the farm one mile west and one-half mile south of Aliceville, and Edna grew up there, attending rural school and helping with the family farm. As the eldest daughter, she also helped looking after the younger children, especially her baby brother, Martin. On December 28, 1932, she was married to Hugo William Rolf at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, and they would be the parents of four children. She was a mother and farm wife, and she worked side by side with her husband over the years. In 1943, they moved to their farm one-half mile north of Aliceville, where they raised their family, and where Edna lived until 2000. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church at Aliceville, and had been active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and in many other roles as a member of the Church. She was known as a wonderful cook, and she always had a big garden and canned fruits and vegetables every year. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo, on December 10, 1993. She also was preceded by her brothers, John, Alvin and Edgar Stohs; her sisters, Elda Rolf, Elsie Ratz, Hilda Maddock and Hulda Ratz; her two sons-in-law, Carl Lesley and Glenn Dieker, and a great-grandson, Matthew Wolever. She is survived by her children, Vera Lesley of Wichita, Carl Rolf and wife Dororthy of Lawrence, Erma Dieker of Lawrence, and Ivan Rolf and his wife Jo of Aliceville; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Angela Dieker, Steve and Kim Dieker, Terry and Ronda Kirk, Brian and Kathy Rolf, Jason and Patti Rolf, Mike and Karen Cronin, Justin and Heather Rolf, Rick and Jessica Morrison, Gina Jackson, Patrick and Sara McIntyre, Steve and Paulette Ferko, and Wendy Steuber; twenty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; her brother, Martin Stohs and wife Lois of Aliceville; and a sister-in-law, Lorna Stohs of Burlington. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 31, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, with burial following at St. John Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to services at the Church on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
