Description	:	Wideman, Edna Fern (Yoder) was born on July 2, 1910, in Milford, Nebraska, the eldest of four children born to David and Lucinda (Stauffer) Yoder. She passed away quietly on January 28, 1999, in the Tofield Health Centre, due to heart failure. Edna was baptized at the age of 13 in the Salem Mennonite Church at Tofield where she remained, faithful to her Lord all her life. She served as Sunday School teacher, in WMSC, essays, choirs, etc. She was also a public school teacher for a total of 13 years, leaving home as a young girl for her training... Read More	Wideman, Edna Fern (Yoder) was born on July 2, 1910, in Milford, Nebraska, the eldest of four children born to David and Lucinda (Stauffer) Yoder. She passed away quietly on January 28, 1999, in the Tofield Health Centre, due to heart failure. Edna was baptized at the age of 13 in the Salem Mennonite Church at Tofield where she remained, faithful to her Lord all her life. She served as Sunday School teacher, in WMSC, essays, choirs, etc. She was also a public school teacher for a total of 13 years, leaving home as a young girl for her training and first teaching position at Blueberry Mountain. On July 2, 1936, Edna married John Wideman who predeceased her on April 1, 1994. They farmed together for 40 years just 6 miles south of Tofield. Surviving to mourn her passing are their three children and families: Dolores and husband Jacob Eckert of Brooks, AB, Joseph and wife Maria (Turi) of Tofield, AB, Lucille and husband Dennis Boettger of McLennan, AB, 9 grandchildren and spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and spouses, 8 step-great grandchildren, two sisters: Lavanda Wideman and Edith (Marvin) Boettger, and many relatives and friends. Edna was also predeceased by her mother in 1956, her father in 1976, her brother Joseph as an infant in 1915, a granddaughter Rita Lehman in 1973, a son-in-law Marvin Lehman in 1978 and a daughter-in-law Glenna Wideman in 1993. Edna will be remembered for her excellent teacher traits, as well as her faithful service in her church and her love and service to family and friends. Funeral services were held in Salem Mennonite Church, Tofield, AB on Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, with Pastor Richard Payne and Paul Voegtlin officiating. Interment in the church cemetery."
