She was buried at her husband's side in Sterling on Sunday, June 20. Mrs. Harrach was born April 14, 1936, in Sterling to Henry Carl and Esther Irene (Ellis) Brandt. She was raised in Sterling during the Depression and the years that followed. At a young age, she assumed responsibility for the care of her parent's house hold. She was buried at her husband's side in Sterling on Sunday, June 20. Mrs. Harrach was born April 14, 1936, in Sterling to Henry Carl and Esther Irene (Ellis) Brandt. She was raised in Sterling during the Depression and the years that followed. At a young age, she assumed responsibility for the care of her parent's house hold. Mrs. Harrach graduated from Sterling High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Russell Wayne Harrach, on Dec. 23, 1955. Together they raised four children, and continued to pursue their shared educational goals. Mrs. Harrach earned her bachelor's degree in education from Wayne State University in 1973, and a master's in reading from the University of Colorado in 1976 under the mentorship of Dr. Don Canine. She held both primary and secondary school certifications, and spent her career working with children and adolescents with learning challenges. In the later years of her career, she also team-taught university graduate extension courses in education, along with her husband. They spent the last dozen years of their careers working in the Douglas Unified Schools in Douglas, Ariz. They were devoted to helping children in their community achieved educational suc cess. They endeavored to accomplish this through a variety of venues, including, but not limited to their individual efforts in the class-room, establishing and running Douglas schools' Early Learning Center, and ongoing educator training programs. Mrs. Harrach is survived by daughters Dr. Tina Harrach Denetciaw, and husband Dr. Wilfred F Jr., of San Francisco, Jill René Llewellyn and husband Clay, of Phoenix; son Rishel Von Harrach and wife Catherine, of Phoenix; daugh ter-in-law Rebecca Foley Harrach, of Columbia, Mo.; brothers Rev. William Brandt, of Loveland, and Edward Brandt, of Sterling; sister Shirley Mertens, of Sterling; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Dr. Russ Harrach; infant son Anthony Ray Harrach; son Russell Wayne Harrach Jr.; father Henry Brandt; mother Esther Brandt; and brother Charles Henry Brandt. Mrs. Harrach will be dearly missed by her family and friends, whose lives were greatly touched by her strong and gen tle spirit.
