Description	:	— CUMBERLAND — Edna Jean Abe, 78, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 9, 1932, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Blacker Lechliter. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Minnie Blacker, who reared her from the age 8; her husband, Ivan Abe; one brother, Joseph Lechliter; a step-daughter, Diana (Abe) Brown; and step- grandson, Todd Abe. Read More	— CUMBERLAND — Edna Jean Abe, 78, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 9, 1932, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Blacker Lechliter. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Minnie Blacker, who reared her from the age 8; her husband, Ivan Abe; one brother, Joseph Lechliter; a step-daughter, Diana (Abe) Brown; and step- grandson, Todd Abe. Mrs. Abe was a 1950 graduate from Fort Hill High School. She worked as a waitress at Anton's Restaurant at the Fort Cumberland Hotel and then went into child care. She was a member of the Davis Memorial United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Goodfellowship Club and the Cumberland Outdoor Club. She loved her family and always had a great sense of humor to the end of her life. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie O'Baker and husband John, Orlando, Fla., Brenda Cook-Miller and husband Buddy, LaVale; two sons, Edwin D. Lewis and wife Linda, Cumberland, Keith R. Lewis and wife Lisa, Finzel; grandchildren who loving called her "BaBa", "Nan Nan" and "Grandma", Amber Saini and husband Prashant, Allison O'Baker, Heidi Binnix, Amy Crickenberger and husband Tom, Tessa Fairall and husband Pat, Trenton Lewis and wife Katie, Jade Lewis, Sophie Lewis, Finzel, Samantha, and Corey; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Grace, Jaredun, Jensen, Javid, Jadison, Jacie, Jimmy, Devin, Kyra, Laila; and one sister, Shirley Bowman, who in the last months of her life was her caregiver and companion. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Mary Lechliter; and special cousins, Betty and George Davis. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Wellman officiating. Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank the WMHS Hospice team and 6 West Nurses and Staff for all their compassion and loving care. They are angels sent by God. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made the WMHS Hospice, c/o Linda Green. To our Mother, rest in peace.
