Description	:	Edna K. Hofer, age 93, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 10 am Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Mt. Olivet Mennonite Church with the Rev. David Koch and Rev. Gordon Wiebe officiating. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Mennonite Cemetery, rural Doland. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 pm today at the Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning. The family will be present from 6 to 8:30 pm this evening at the funeral home. Edna K. Hofer was born April 26, 1912 near Freeman to William J. and Katherina (Kleinsasser) Gross. At the age of three years she moved with her family to Carpenter, South Dakota. She grew up there, attending a country school where she received her education. Her father passed away November 10, 1928 and in 1931 her mother was united in marriage to J.J. Mendel of Freeman, SD. Edna worked in her step father's print shop. (The Freeman Courier) On September 8, 1932 she was united in marriage to Albert R. Hofer of Frankfort, SD. They moved to a farm in southeastern Spink County where they farmed and raised livestock for 47 years. Edna was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church near Doland where she taught Sunday school and Bible School, sang in the choir and ladies trio, and served on the ladies fellowship. Edna and Albert retired in 1981, and purchased a home in Huron where they attended Mt. Olivet Mennonite Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 3, 2001; infant daughter, Rosetta Joy; her parents; five brothers, William, Jacob, Peter, Henry, and John Gross; and one sister, Anna Wahl. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Shirley (Willis) Wipf, of Huron; three grandchildren, Corliss (Nolan) Kleinsasser and Blaine (Keena) Wipf, all of Huron, seven great grandchildren, Matthew (Becky) Kleinsasser of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, Aaron Kleinsasser and his special friend Candace Albers of Brookings, Rachel Kleinsasser, of Orange City, Iowa, Brandon Wipf of Sioux Center, Iowa, Spencer Wipf of Hitchcock, and Lucas Wipf and Logan Wipf of Huron; one step sister, Rachel (Peter) Regier of Madrid, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gross of Volga; and several nieces and nephews.
