She received her elementary and high school education at Dodge and graduated from Dickinson State University with a bachelor's degree in education. Edna continued her education at the University of Mary and Bismarck State College. She taught in North Dakota for 37 years. Edna married Ernest E. Raber in 1945 at the United Church of Christ at Hebron, where they were active participants. Mrs. Raber's husband passed away in 1988. Mrs. Raber was a public school teacher for 37 years, retiring from the Bismarck Public Schools in 1979. She was a member of N.E.A, N.D.E.A, the Dickinson University Alumni Association, the Bismarck-Mandan Retired Teachers, the Burleigh County Senior Adult Program and the Christian Women's Organization. Edna enjoyed life. She had a deep love for her family and was very close to them. She especially enjoyed socializing with them. Edna took special pride in the accomplishments of her sisters and brothers. She was deeply loved by them. Edna will be greatly missed. She is survived by one brother, Ted Schields, Bismarck; one sister, Eleanor Akidakis, Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Leona Schields, Dodge, and Charlotte Schields, Bismarck; and one brother-in-law, Leo Miller, Mountain Home, Idaho. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Richard Schields and Ray Schields; four sisters, Tillie Sandau, Hertha Schields, Hilda Miller and Irene Brandtner; and three brothers-in-law, Albin Sandau, Clifford Akidakis and Dennis Brandtner.
