When a little baby her mother died and she was left to the care of her father, who centered his affections on the beautiful babe. But his sorrow knew no bounds when the little one less than two years old took the spinal meningitis, and upon recovery it was found that the darling's mind was left a blank. She was a handsome child and grew up to be a beautiful young woman, but still had the mind of the child she was when taken with the dread disease. For all these years the father and her step-mother have carefully watched over her, and cared for her in the home, until Monday night, when she passed away at the age of 38 years. The funeral services were held at the residence on Tuesday by the Rev. J.W. Kendall, and the body was tenderly laid in the Cherokee cemetery. The family has the sympathy of many friends and neighbors who fully understand the many sacrifices they have made to keep the loved one in their home in order that she might be tenderly cared for. She was born in Illinois and was brought here sometime about 1874, when she was a small girl.
