Description	:	OBIT: Leona went home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 29, 2012, after serving Him all the days of her life. Leona was born May 19, 1919, in Fort McCloud, Alberta, Canada, to Alice and R.W. May. She was the youngest of 13 children. Leona was born May 19, 1919, in Fort McCloud, Alberta, Canada, to Alice and R.W. May. She was the youngest of 13 children. With several moves from Canada, the family settled on a homestead in Coleman Creek, Northeast of Ellensburg. Leona graduated from Kittitas High School, with the Class of 1940, as Valedictorian. Leona married Ernest Ellison and during this union were born Eloise, Lorraine and Howard. Ernie and Leona opened their home and hearts to nephew and niece, Don and Priscilla Morrison. Following the death of her beloved Ernie, Leona remarried three times to Edward Touwmey, Walter Hood, and John Kenzy, only to be left alone each time. In 1972, Leona moved to Yuma, Arizona, with husband, Walter Hood. She spent 33 wonderful years as a snowbird. She has resided in Kennewick since 2011. Leaving behind to enjoy beautiful memories are son, Howard and Bev Ellison, Kennewick; daughters, Lorraine and LeRoy Holmes, Cherrie Valley, Calif., Eloise and Herb Woods, Kennewick; ten grandchildren, Lori Woods, Pam Gary, Julie Harris, Jason Woods, Kelly Taton, Donnie Holmes, Becky Trujillo, Paul Holmes, Kevin Ellison and Aric Ellison; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Leona was known for her Christian ideals, her beautiful singing voice and her hugs for everyone. She had a great sense of humor that never left her, even in later years with health challenges. She enjoyed large family gatherings, especially yearly family reunions and holding new babies. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Ellensburg on Saturday, April 14th, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Service will be held at Columbia Community Church, 150 Gage Blvd, in Richland, at 3:00 p.m on Saturday. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
