Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Edna Mae was born February 27, 1933 at Odell, Neb., to William R. and Grace (Tjaden) Gerdes. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Immanuel State Line Lutheran Church north of Marysville. In 1951, she graduated from Marysville High School. After graduation she was employed at the Marshall County Courthouse. On Nov. 3, 1957, she married Winton A. Schwarz. They were the parents of three children, Cynthia, Kent and Kandyce. Edna was a farm wife and also a bus driver for USD #364 for 37 years. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Mt. Calvary Evening Circle, Marysville American Legion Auxiliary and was a RSVP Volunteer. She was a wonderful cook, loved flowers, gardening, playing cards, and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was the official scorekeeper when her children played baseball and softball. She drove the bus to many, many games and track meets, and had lots of memories of driving for the high school girls' basketball team. She loved watching sports on TV, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas Jayhawks. She referred to herself as a realist, and because of that quality, she accepted Parkinson's Disease without complaint, but with grace and courage. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Winton, on April 22, 1992, her sister, Wilma Schell, and her niece Lesli Schell. Survivors include her three children, Cindy (Jeff) Koon, Manhattan, KS, Kent Schwarz, Marysville, and Kandyce (Rick) Cudney, Marysville; brother, Bill (Linda) Gerdes, LeCompton, Kan.; grandchildren, Melia (Chad) Widener, Ben Cudney, Brea Cudney, Kiley Schwarz and Dani Schwarz; and two great-grandchildren, Cash and Laine Widener. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran School or St. Gregory's Catholic School and sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, 1006 Broadway, Marysville, Kan. 66508
