Description	:	Funeral services for Edna Tescher, age 79 of Bison, will be held at 2:00pm Monday, November 5, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison. Florence Hoff, CLP will officiate with burial in the Bison Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Joyce Aukland, organist and the First Presbyterian Church Choir. Serving as casketbearers are Sean Lien, Zachary and Vanden Gaaskjolen, Corey Bucher, Paul Sowers, and Doug Hamilton. All friends and relatives are considered honorary bearers. EDNA MAE VAN DEN BERG was born April 3, 1928 on the family homestead near Strool, SD to Cornelius and Gertie (Brandt) Van Den Berg. She started school at age 7 at the Center School 5 miles northeast of the Van Den Berg homestead. She graduated from Lemmon High School in 1945 and then taught for 1 year at the Daviston School. The following summer, Edna attended college and earned a teaching certificate. She returned to the Daviston School where she taught for 1 year. Edna was united in marriage to Harry J. "Jim" Tescher on February 7, 1948 at Bison, SD. In 1952, they moved to Bison where she worked in the Perkins County Auditors office. She worked as a clerk at the ASCS office in Bison until her retirement. She traveled with Jim in the rodeo circuits and enjoyed fishing. Jim passed away on June 30, 1986. Edna enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, crocheting, and entertaining family and friends. She passed away on Wednesday, October 31, at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon. Surviving family members include her daughter and son-in-law, Roxi and Keith Gaaskjolen, Meadow, SD; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Tyler Tescher, Seoul, Korea; Tim and Gayle Tescher, Hot Springs, SD; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister and 2 brothers-in-law, Ella and Victor Heppler, Alberta, Canada; Bernard Stoltz, Sturgis, SD; 3 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law, Bud and Maxine Van Den Berg, Boulder, CO; Herman and Ruby Van Den Berg, Prairie City, SD; Lyle and Helen Van Den Berg, Deadwood, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, Anna Schmidt and Clara Stoltz. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 to 9:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon and on Monday one hour prior to services at the First Presbyterian Church in Bison.
