Whitney was born in Clarksville, Butler County, Ia., on July 19, 1922 and died at Cherokee, Ia., on Oct. 3, 1965 following a long illness. She attended Shell Rock High School and Wartburg College. Whitney was born in Clarksville, Butler County, Ia., on July 19, 1922 and died at Cherokee, Ia., on Oct. 3, 1965 following a long illness. She attended Shell Rock High School and Wartburg College. For seven years she taught in rural Butler County schools. On Oct. 1, 1917, she was married to Boyd Glidewell in Little Brown Church at Nashua. She moved to Cherokee where their home was at 416 Gillease St. An active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, she was first member to join and become a member in the present church edifice. Survivors include the widower, Boyd, Cherokee; her mother Mrs. Robert Whitney and also two brothers, Merwyn and Harold Whitney, all of Waverly; 10 nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Oct. 5 from Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev Robert Noblitt officiating and burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Boothby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
