The accident -- a head on collision of another car driven by her husband and another machine driven by Cletus Meier, 18, son of Mr. and Ms. Lawrence Meier of near Fredericksburg, occurred at 2am Saturday on highway 18, a mile and a half east of Williamstown. The Costellos were en route home from a dance they had attended at Fredericksburg. We understand that they had been accompanied by the Meier youth's parents and had just left them at their home shortly before the smash-up. Mrs. Costello died en route to the New Hampton hospital. Her husband suffered a broken shoulder and many lacerations, and a passenger in their car, Miss Delores DePettignies of New Hampton suffered a broken right leg and cuts. Meier's right foot was broken and his knee severely cut. All received treatment at St. Joseph hospital in New Hampton. The cars were both badly smashed. The Costellos tenant the Mary Kunz farm east of Nashua. She was the former Edna Marie Bearman, of Fredericksburg, being born at that place in December 1913. Surviving are her husband and two children, Darlene, 4 and Dolores, 2, her mother, Mrs. John Bearman of Fredericksburg, and a brother, Leo, of Fredericksburg. A prayer was held at the home Tuesday, followed by church services and burial at Fredericksburg.
