Description	:	"COLUMBUS -- Edna Griffis Moore, 93, passed away at Beartooth Manor, Columbus, Nov. 25, 2005, after a short illness. Edna was born Nov. 9, 1912, at Hulett, Wyo. Her parents, Nathaniel G. and Barbara Griffis, gave life to eight children, of which Edna was the sixth and the last survivor of the family. She... Read More	"COLUMBUS -- Edna Griffis Moore, 93, passed away at Beartooth Manor, Columbus, Nov. 25, 2005, after a short illness. Edna was born Nov. 9, 1912, at Hulett, Wyo. Her parents, Nathaniel G. and Barbara Griffis, gave life to eight children, of which Edna was the sixth and the last survivor of the family. Edna was united in marriage to Manly Moore, July 7, 1933, and from this union three sons were born, Robert, Willard and Manly Jr. Edna was well known for her friendly generosity and kindness and the front door was always open. She was the mom whose home all the kids came to eat cookies while in town. On the ranch, it seemed we always had friends or relatives stay with us during the summer. She was a friend to everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She grew up on a ranch in the Bear Lodge near Devils Tower and Hulett, Wyo. Graduating from Hulett, she went on to receive her teacher's certificate and taught at the Lame Jones School. Edna and her students all rode their horses to school. She said she learned as much from the kids as they learned from her. During the Depression and the Dirty '30s, Edna and Manly started ranching in Wyoming, first on the Little Missouri above Alzada, then south of Moorcroft and Upton on Black Thunder Creek, back to Biddle, Mont., on the old-time Biddle Land and Cattle Cross Ranch. They purchased the Roy Kopp Ranch on Timber Creek, and through the years put together one of the finest ranches in southeastern Montana. The ranch was eventually sold around 1991 and Edna moved to Billings to live. When Robert passed away, Edna moved to Columbus to live with Willard and Julie. For the past two years, Edna lived at the Beartooth Manor in Columbus and received the best of care. She enjoyed helping push the patients in their wheelchairs and getting her exercise. Because of the love and care from the staff at Beartooth Manor, Edna called it her home. Preceding Edna in death were her parents, Nat and Barbara Griffis; her sister, Ethel Todd, Irene O'Connor, Helen Rue and Gail Pederson; brothers Johnny, Don and Currie; husband Manly Sr.; and sons Robert and Manly Jr. Surviving are son Willard (Julie) of Columbus; granddaughters Kim and Rebecca; grandsons Will and Todd; three great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Broadus. Smith Funeral Chapel, Laurel & Columbus, was in charge of cremation." The Billings Gazette, December 1, 2005
