Description	:	Edna Moore Crane Antenucci passed away Monday, February 9, 2009, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Indian Trail, N.C. She was born in Union County, N.C. on February 11, 1911 to the late William Jackson Moore and the late Mattie Laney Moore. She was also preceded in death by husband John Antenucci and former husband James Ray Crane; a sister, Gertrude Moore; and three brothers, Claude, Carl and Grant Moore. Read More	Edna Moore Crane Antenucci passed away Monday, February 9, 2009, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Indian Trail, N.C. She was born in Union County, N.C. on February 11, 1911 to the late William Jackson Moore and the late Mattie Laney Moore. She was also preceded in death by husband John Antenucci and former husband James Ray Crane; a sister, Gertrude Moore; and three brothers, Claude, Carl and Grant Moore. Mrs. Antenucci lived in Weddington most of her life and was the oldest member of Weddington United Methodist Church, which she dearly loved, teaching children in Sunday School and serving the church in many ways. While her children were in elementary school, she served as Room Mother and PTA President. During World War II she did her part for the War by working at the Shell Plant making ammunition for the troops, and was very active with the Civil Service Defense Agency. In the late '60s and early '70s, she was a member of the American Business Women's Association and served as Corresponding Secretary for the Charlotte Charter Chapter. She became a House Mother for the Thompson Orphanage in Charlotte, the Episcopal Church Home Orphanage in York, S.C., and an orphanage run by the Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. Additionally, she served as a House Mother to the nurses at Presbyterian and Mercy Hospitals and to students at Kings College. Traveling became one of Edna's favorite hobbies and in addition to her adventures throughout the United States, she visited the Holy Lands, Europe, Canada and Mexico. After enjoying good health for 81 years, a brain tumor interrupted her active life and in her 90s she developed Alzheimers. Survivors include two daughters: Edna Ray Crane Harkey and husband, Harold, of Green Mountain, N.C., and Jimmie Moore Crane Hargett and husband, Donald, of Monroe, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Bonnie Duckworth, Linda Stallings, Lisa McClanahan, Betsy Moorhead, Karen Pittman Deborah Hargett, Sandra Hargett; nine great-grandchildren, Lauri Baker, Amy Peterson, Adam Geist, Jennifer Geist, Matthew McClanahan, Jami Pearce, David Pittman, Johnathan Pittman and Krystal Grier; one great-great-grandchild, Payton Baker; and one sister, Lucy Crenshaw of Raleigh, N.C. Edna was a loving and devoted Mother to her two daughters and played a major role in the academic accomplishments of her grandchildren: Bachelor's and Master's Degrees, PhD. and RNs. She planted many seeds that have flourished in the generations of today. The family wishes to thank the people at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation for the many years they cared for her. She received from them the best and most loving care that could possibly be given. Graveside services will be at Weddington United Methodist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with ministers from the Weddington United Methodist Church officiating. Memorials may be made to Weddington United Methodist Church, 13901 Providence Rd., Weddington, N.C. 28104, or to First Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 203 Windsor St., Monroe, N.C. 28112. McEwen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family of Mrs. Antenucci.
