Description	:	E. Paulean "Pug" (Burton) Drange was born in Randlett, Okla., on October 12, 1924, to Amy G. (Wilson) and Martin Luther Burton. She was the youngest of 11 children, with seven brothers and three sisters. When she was three, the Burton family moved to Musselshell, where the promise of a good life awaited. Paulean "Pug" (Burton) Drange was born in Randlett, Okla., on October 12, 1924, to Amy G. (Wilson) and Martin Luther Burton. She was the youngest of 11 children, with seven brothers and three sisters. When she was three, the Burton family moved to Musselshell, where the promise of a good life awaited. She attended the country school in the Bull Mountains, Shepherd and Roundup High School. Studies, basketball, Luther League and dances filled her time. Elmer Drange was a girls basketball referee who was known to assist players who had fallen during a game. Pug intentionally fell frequently, catching his eye and, eventually, his heart. Elmer left for World War II in July 1942, leaving Pug at age 17 to await his return. She waited patiently throughout the four years of his service to the Army. About two months after his return, on January 3, 1946, they were married and began their lives together. They spent their entire married life in Billings with Elmer eventually retiring from a 35-plus-year career at Cenex Oil Refinery in Laurel. Paulean was an involved mother, serving as a scout leader, church youth group chaperone, Little League mom and hostess to the many friends of her children, Terry, Jaynee and Judy. An active member of American Lutheran Church, Paulean belonged to a Women's Circle and served many families at funeral, anniversary and wedding receptions. Being a skilled seamstress, she worked as a tailor at Shadoan's Men's Store. Pug and Elmer also enjoyed time spent with their friends, playing cards, traveling, and entertaining in their home or backyard. Parades, camping, dancing, gardening, campfire sing-a-longs, music, sewing and hand work brought happiness and pleasure to Pug. Her family was the center of her life and all the kids and grandkids remember the many good times they spent with Gram or Pug, in the motor home, White Sulphur or Bozeman or, most important, at Poppo and Pug/Gram's house. There, many a card or board game, sewing project, popcorn or cinnamon rolls, guitar and singing jam session or home-cooked meal was enjoyed. Paulean is survived by her husband, Elmer, who resides at St. John's Lutheran Home, and their three children: son Terry Drange and wife Kathy, and their children Kari of Shepherd and Tory; daughter Jaynee Groseth and her husband Rolf, and their sons Peder and his wife, Jess, and Anders; daughter Judy Berg and her husband Jay, and their children Eric and Anna, Josie and Alissa. Pug's sister, Willena Burton, and sister-in-law Pearl Burton. Since both Elmer and Pug have large families, there are many nieces and nephews who have been a part of the Elmer and Pug Drange family throughout the years. Pug passed away at age 86, July 4, 2011, at Jensen Cottage, St. John's Lutheran Ministry in Billings. While there, she was lovingly attended to by caregivers who gave her happiness and friendship in final months. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Avenue, Billings, MT. A luncheon will be served after the service and interment is scheduled for Mountview Cemetery at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Lutheran Church or St. John's Nursing Home, both in Billings.
