Visitation is Friday from 2-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. She died Feb. 7, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospice in Sioux Falls, S.D. Edna Reich, daughter of John and Lydia (Haux) Reich was born Aug. 28, 1925, on the family homestead southwest of Fredonia, N.D. This is where she grew up while helping on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Herbert Reuther on Sept. 25, 1946, on the Reich family farm at Fredonia. They made their home two miles south of her parent's farm. They farmed there raising small grains and livestock until 1988. They moved their home into Ashley in 1998. Together, they spent 11 winters in Weslaco, Texas. Her husband died July 19, 2003. Edna enjoyed playing piano, quilting, crafting, wood finishing, singing and memorizing Bible scripture. Her church was a very large part of her life. Her most memorable times were when she could spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Gideon Auxiliary. She was a past Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and choir director. Survivors include two daughters, Marietta (Ted) Faszer of Sioux Falls and Sandra (Terry) Kappes of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Viola (Edwin) Schlenker of Yakima, Wash., Delores Wockenfuss of Aberdeen and Estella (Bill) Merkel of Eureka; two brothers, Ben (Elfreda) Reich of St. Paul, Minn. and John Reich of Ashley; five grandchildren, Catherine (Brian) Beachy, Debra (Christopher) McMahon, Kristi Kappes, Jon (Janelle) Kappes and Joshua Kappes; and two great-grand- children. Her parents, husband, one brother, two sisters and two infant sisters preceded her in death. Casketbearers will be Catherine Beachy, Brian Beachy, Debra McMahon, Christopher McMahon, Kristi Kappes and Joshua Kappes. Her grandchildren will perform special music. The family prefers memorial be made to the Ashley Medical Center Hospice, PO Box 450, Ashley, ND 58413-0450. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with the arrangements.
