Description	:	MUSCATINE, IOWA -- Edward A. Barko, 91, of 330 Kindler Ave., died Monday, July 24, 2000, at Unity Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Stephen Wall of the Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Terry Westberg, Jon Westberg, Kevin Barko, Rob Carlson and Jon Carlson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Barko was born on Aug. 2, 1908, in Muscatine, the son of Andrew and Klara Tamas Barko. He married Ruth Curry on May 19, 1933, in Muscatine. He learned to grow strawberries and vegetables on the Island. He grew and sold strawberries for over 60 years and worked as a glazer at Roach and Musser until they closed. He was member of the Carpenters Union and the Iowa Vegetables Growers Association. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Barko of Muscatine, two sons, Donald Barko and his wife, Janet, of Muscatine, and James Barko and his wife, Gail, of Jenison, Michigan; two daughters, Joyce Carlson and her husband, Dr. Robert Carlson, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and Janet Westberg and her husband, Stan, of Brantwood, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and one sister, Nora Samet of Detroit Lakes, Minn.
