TUREK After illness of six weeks Edward A. Turek, 48, died at his farm home south of Ulysses on Tuesday, May 16, at 1:45 p.m. He had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Turek was a former Butler county resident, having been born on a farm near Octavia, December 13, 1895. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Turek. He had farmed in Butler county, then near Bee and lastly near Staplehurst. The marriage of Edward Turek and Miss Leona Makes took place in Holy Trinity church, Brainard, October 16, 1916. Mrs. Turek and four sons, Edward L. Turek, Jr., Ernest, Arnold and John S 2/c stationed at a navy base near San Diego, Calif., survive Mr. Turek. He leaves also his father, a resident of Bee, one brother, John Turek of Surprise, three sisters, Mrs. John Litty of Omaha, Mrs. Jerry Bohaty of Beaver Crossing, and Mrs. Charles Kunasek of Seward. The immediate family of Mr. Turek, with the exception of the son in the navy, who was home on leave the week before his father's death, was present at the funeral services which were held in the Ulysses Catholic church Saturday morning, May 20, at 10 o'clock. Rev. Maurice Downey conducted the services, the church choir furnishing the music. The pall bearers were John Bartunek, Cyril Hottovy, Fred Hottovy, John Liska, Frank Plisek and John Turek. Burial was in the Ulysses Catholic cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere included the sister, Mrs. Litty of Omaha, Miss Josephine Makes, a sister-in-law of Ambercombe, N. D., and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Plisek of Norfolk. Mr. Turek took an active part in affairs in the communities in which he lived until ill health prevented. While living near Bee he served on the school board. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church and was affiliated with the Catholic Workman lodge. He was a good husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and community in which he lived.
