Description	:	Ed Goeders passed away unexpectedly here last Friday {6 Oct 1939}. Funeral services were held in St. Thomas church Monday, with Father McNerney officiating. The active pallbearers, six nephews were Jerome, Thomas, George and Eugene Goeders, DeWayne Gohr and Gerald Gard. The honorary pallbearers were ex-service men as follows: George Kliegl, Vernon Gard, Joe Hammes, Robert Carney, Martin Thompson and John Kajewski. The remains were interred in St. John's cemetery where military rites were held. The Foy Funeral home was in charge. Edward Barney Goeders was born at Algona on April 2, 1887. Thus he was 52 years of age at the time of death. At the age of two he came to a farm near Cylinder with his parents and resided there until he enlisted in the army for World war service on May 10, 1918. His war service included one year in France in Company H of the 34th Division of Infantry. After being honorably discharged in June 1910, he farmed with his parents near Cylinder until about 1924, in which year he came to Emmetsburg and worked for Palo Alto County in road construction activities since that time. He is survived by his father Nicholas Goeders, five brothers John and Tom of near Cylinder, Tony of Mason City, Bert of Armstrong, and Leo of Atlantic, and three sisters: Susie of Whittemore, Mrs. Reuben Gard of Cylinder, and Mrs. Ed Gohr of Charles City. His mother passed away in September 1938 and one sister, Mrs. Fred Bohn of Fenton was fatally injured in an auto-train wreck at Hampton, Iowa in October 1938.
