Read More	Edward Bornitz March 7, 1926 - March 6, 2015 WWII veteran, Edward Bornitz, Sioux Falls, SD, died March 6, 2015, at Southridge Healthcare Center. He was 88. Edward Bornitz was born March 7, 1926, in Brookings, SD, to George and Bena (Schultz) Bornitz. He was raised in Brookings where he received his education. On July 1, 1945, Edward joined the US Army. He received his honorable discharge from service on August 4, 1947. Edward was united in marriage to Beverly Schmidt on April 15, 1948, in Sioux Falls. Beginning his life-long career, Ed began working at John Morrell and Company in the ham bone department. He retired from Morrell in 1985 after 37 years with the company. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for the Salvation Army and Howard Johnson. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. During the summer months, Ed enjoyed working on several landscaping and lawn projects that he and Bev would design. In his free-time, he enjoyed watching old westerns. A dedicated husband and father, Ed's quiet and kind spirit will be forever cherished. Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Edward (Debra) Bornitz, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ray Boettcher, Fremont, NE; and his sister, Alice Schmidt, Vermillion, SD. In addition to his wife, Beverly, Ed was preceded in death by his sons, Ronald and Richard; daughters, Carol Tovas and Sharon Boettcher; great-grandson, Matt Rains; brothers, Frank, Glen, George; and his sister, Mary Jane Kueter. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue. A visitation and reception will follow the service.
