Memorial services will be held at a later, undetermined, date. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is assisting the family. Chuck was born March 28, 1925, in Fairfield, the son of Walter Otto Warner and Wilma Mae Woods. He attended school in Fairfield and Omaha, Neb., before entering the Army and serving courageously in Europe during World War II. He returned home after being wounded in battle. He married DeVee Dean on April 6, 1946, and lovingly raised three sons. Another longtime special member of his family was Ron (Sharon) Landis of Marion. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all of them. Chuck and DeVee were never afraid of change and lived in almost 60 homes and five states during their 63 years of marriage. They also traveled extensively, visiting every state except Alaska over the years, even though they insisted there was no place as beautiful as Iowa. They also took two trips to Europe, one to visit their son, Charles, when he was stationed in the Army in Germany and one to visit Gary, when he was attending a university in Germany a few years later. Chuck spent his entire working life in the heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation business. It was well-known, even by national companies, that if Chuck couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed. He was an active member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) for over 50 years and was president of that international organization from 1978 to 1982, and wrote numerous training manuals for them. He was also a consultant with Kirkwood Community College in the '60s when they were trying to start vocational training in refrigeration. He was an active member of the Marion Christian Church for almost 60 years and held numerous leadership roles during that time. He and DeVee also developed a very active youth group in the church, which they led for 15 years.
