He died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont. He was born Oct. 27, 1918, in West Point. He attended public elementary and high school in Hooper, graduating in 1935. Bloemker, 84, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. He died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Arbor Manor Living Center in Fremont. He was born Oct. 27, 1918, in West Point. He attended public elementary and high school in Hooper, graduating in 1935. He worked for Lallman Bros. Grocery in Hooper from 1935-37 and from 1937-40 he was with the Safeway Stores Inc. in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was with Safeway in Neligh from 1941-44, managing the store during 1943 and 1944. From July 1944 to June 1946, he served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of staff sergeant and the position of battalion sergeant major. He was manager of the Safeway Store in Neligh from 1946-52 and from 1952-63 he managed the Safeway store in Lexington. He managed the Electric Fixture and Supply Company from 1964-80 in Lexington. He retired Nov. 1, 1980, and moved to Fremont. From July 1981 to October 1982, he managed Fremont Monument Co. for his son who purchased the company in July 1981. He married Blanche Hornik on Nov. 6, 1938, in Council Bluffs. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and American Legion Post 18 of Hooper. He was a past 25-year member of the Lions Club and a member and secretary/treasurer of the Izaak Walton League in Fremont. Survivors include: his wife; a son, R. Kevin (and wife, Barbara) Bloemker of Fremont; a daughter, Janice (Mrs. Joe) Moritz of Omaha; three sisters-in-law, Rose Everett of Marshalltown, Iowa, Elsie Hornik of Scribner and Helen Hornik of Fremont; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. The Revs. Timothy Gierke and Timothy Anderson will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Hooper Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church." Fremont Tribune, Fremont, Nebraska.
