Description	:	Clyde, the 4th child of ten children for Raymond Leander Whitney and Myrtle May Nelson Whitney, was born and raised in Grandview, Wash. He married Violet Hazel Hicks, also of Grandview, on July 24, 1949. A World War II Veteran, Clyde served in the Army in Germany. He was a member of the last mounted cavalry to train at Fort Riley, Kansas. The unit was on its way to California for deployment to Japan when the orders were reversed and they were sent to Germany. Read More	Clyde, the 4th child of ten children for Raymond Leander Whitney and Myrtle May Nelson Whitney, was born and raised in Grandview, Wash. He married Violet Hazel Hicks, also of Grandview, on July 24, 1949. A World War II Veteran, Clyde served in the Army in Germany. He was a member of the last mounted cavalry to train at Fort Riley, Kansas. The unit was on its way to California for deployment to Japan when the orders were reversed and they were sent to Germany. Clyde was a farmer. As a veteran his name was drawn for a section of land when the Columbia Basic Irrigation District was opened. He was required to clear the land and build a house and the land became his. Clyde and Violet did this in 1956 and have resided in the house ever since. Clyde is survived by his wife Violet of Warden, son Edward Clyde Whitney Jr. (Ed) also of Warden, and daughter and son-inlaw Karen and Benny DeLeon of Othello. Also surviving are brothers Lloyd (Dorothy) of Warden, Marvin (Iris) of Moses Lake, Phil of Prosser, Fred (Ann) of Kent, Ivan (Arline) of Greenacres, sister Lillian Jean Omberg (Ron) of Richland, sisters-in-law Nellie Voss of Warden, Mickey Hancock of Prosser, and Jenny Underwood (Bill) of West Richland. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruby Whitney and Ruth Berg, and brother Charles. Services will be Saturday, May 12, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at the Warden Community Church. Visitation will be at Kayser's Chapel and Crematory in Moses Lake, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, May 10-11, and at the Church prior to the service-12:30-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.
