Cook Sr. and Louise M. Cook, he attended school in Belfast. Ed voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam in service of his Country. Ed was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1973 at the rank of Sergeant E-5. Ed received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and 3 O/S Bars. Ed worked in the Electrical Design department at Bath Iron Works as Design Work Leader. Ed was a born again Christian, a life-long Republican, and a die-hard Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles fan. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed watching hockey and football games, talking sports with his sons, was never satisfied with the Philadelphia Flyers goal tending situation (LOL), taking long walks with his dog Sandy, fishing and caring for his birds. He is survived by his wife Deborah P. Cook of Topsham; his three sons, Edward M. Cook III and his wife Lisa A. Cook of Dalton, Mass., Keith E. Cook and his wife Erica F. Cook of New Gloucester and Randy T. Cook and his wife Christine N. Cook of Sabattus; stepdaughter, Jennifer L. Ferry and husband Brandon Ferry of Joplin Mo., stepson, Matthew E. Groves of Topsham; 11 grandchildren, Michayla Cook, Katie Cook, Tyler Cook, Rebecca Cook, Makenzie Cook, Kaleb Cook, Bradley Groves, Allison Cook, Jocelyn Cook, Chase Cook, and Cole Cook; sisters, Roberta Patterson of West Bath, Helen Suitor of Brunswick, Louise Shaw of Topsham and Linda Nadeu of Sabattus, and life-long friend and brother in-law Larry Shaw of Topsham; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Ed was predeceased by his brother Ralph E. Cook; mother Louise M. Cook and father Edward M. Cook Sr. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Open Door Bible Baptist Church on Gartley Street in Lisbon. A burial service will be held at 4 p.m. at Grove Cemetery in Belfast, celebrated by Pastor David Garnett.
